Membership in BCAR®
is based on the level of service desired.
Read each definition carefully to ensure
that you are requesting the correct application. All prices and fees are included in each membership packet (all fees and prices are subject to change).
Primary REALTOR®
and Designated REALTOR®
(Broker in Charge) Membership also include membership in the North Carolina Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.
Secondary membership requires
membership in a primary association and, if outside
North Carolina, the obligation to pay the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®
dues as well.
Members of BCAR pay annual dues for
access to a multitude of valuable products and services.
Individuals who, as sole proprietors, partners, or corporate officers or branch office managers, that are engaged actively in the real estate profession. This includes buying, selling, exchanging, renting or leasing, managing, appraising for others for compensation, counseling, or building, developing or subdividing real estate, and who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office in the state of North Carolina or a state contiguous thereto.
Use this application to apply for PRIMARY OR SECONDARY membership with BCAR. Your firm (office) must be established with BCAR and you must have an active NC real estate license OR are a NC licensed /certified appraiser to apply for this membership type.
Each firm or office in the case of firms with multiple office locations shall designate in writing one REALTOR® Member who shall be responsible for all duties and obligations of Membership including the obligation to arbitrate pursuant to Article 17 of the Code of Ethics and the payment of Association dues as established in Article X, of the Bylaws. The “Broker in Charge” must be a sole proprietor, partner, corporate officer or branch office manager acting on behalf of the firm’s principal(s) and must meet all other qualifications for REALTOR® Membership established in Article V, Section 2, of the Bylaws.
Use this application to apply for PRIMARY OR SECONDARY membership with BCAR and/or to establish a NEW FIRM (office). You must have an active NC real estate license, you must appear as the BIC with an established firm on the NC Real Estate Commission web site.
Individuals who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office in the state of North Carolina or a state contiguous thereto and wish to purchase MLS services only.
Use this application to apply for MLS ONLY REALTOR® membership with BCAR, remember you will not be an active member with BCAR . You must have an active NC real estate license OR are a licensed /certified NC appraiser, you must belong to an Association/Board with NC or a state contiguous thereto to apply for this membership type, and your firm (office) must be established with BCAR.

Use this application to apply for MLS Only membership for your firm with BCAR and/or to establish a NEW BIC. You must have an active NC real estate license, you must appear as the BIC with an established firm on the NC Real Estate Commission web site.
Affiliate Members shall be real estate owners and other individuals or firm who, while not engaged in the real estate profession as defined above, have interest requiring information concerning real estate, and are in sympathy with the objectives of the Association.
Use this application to apply for Affiliate Membership/Benefits with BCAR. Affiliate membership is provided per member not to the entire office – if the member that signed up for Affiliate membership leaves the company during the year, a new member from that office must join to retain membership.
Affiliate Keyholders are individuals who do not hold a real estate license, but are licensed by the State of North Carolina to provide a service that is of professional interest in the real estate industry (home inspector, pest inspector, etc).
Use this application to apply for Affiliate Keyholder membership with BCAR. Keyholder Members may lease a key to open our lock box system but may NOT have access to the Multiple Listing Service.
